Save Money on Spays and Castrations

We are happy to announce that the Cook County Department of Animal Control has decided to sponsor their spay/castration program again this year. In 2006 they dropped the program after eleven years, but brought it back in 2007. Crestwood Animal Clinic has participated in the program each year it was available. We think it is a valuable service for pets and are thrilled that the program is being made available again this year.

February is the month to save on spays (ovariohysterectomies) and castrations for cats and dogs. Neutering your pet will help stop the animal overpopulation problem in Cook County and help to stem the possible spread of dangerous diseases to pets and people through stray animals. Funding is provided by the $6 (one year) and $18 (three year) rabies tag fees. The rebate is $40 for each pet whether a spay or castration of a cat or dog. Eligible pets must have owners that are residents of Cook County. There is a limit of two pets per household. To participate in the program, the animal must be currently vaccinated with rabies vaccine and the rabies tag must be listed in the Department of Animal Control’s computer database. Pets may be vaccinated at the time of surgery.

The ratio of puppies and kittens born each day in the United States compared to humans is 7 to 1. Each year 3.5 million dogs and cats are euthanized. Have your pet spayed or castrated to help prevent overpopulation.

Crestwood Animal Clinic is happy to be participating in the program again this year. The rebate is granted immediately at the time of your pet’s dismissal from our hospital. Pets must be current on vaccinations and dogs must have a current negative heartworm test from the previous season.
